Total acquires Business Equipment Division (BEM) of RR Donnelley

Total announced that it has today acquired the major contracts and assets of the Business Equipment Division (BEM) of RR Donnelley Print and Media Services Ltd.

Total Postweigh International Ltd (Total) announced it will take over all contract work formerly handled by Her Majesties Stationary Office (HMSO) before it was privatised in the mid-90’s and ultimately purchased by Astron, the BEM division of RR Donnelley.

The former Astron staff have joined Total as part of the development, and the operation will be run as a separate division of Total, to be called Total Equipment Services, with Andy Drake as General Manager, and Gareth Weller as Accounts Manager. Existing communication methods, such as phone, fax and email, will be maintained and integrated with Total’s systems over the coming months.

Total’s Managing Director, David Hymers, has worked closely with RR Donnelley to ensure a clean seamless handover. “This [acquisition] is a natural development for Total, and complements our existing operations.” The Total Equipment Services division will continue to operate from Norwich, but it is expected to undergo a change of premises over the next few months. “The Norwich office will operate from the St. Crispins address until further notice. However, we are looking to relocate within Norwich.”
